Mobile Advertising

Mobile Advertising

Have you ever received an advertisement on your mobile? I?m serious. This is the latest channel of communication being used by advertisers to get your attention. Let?s face it. The very nature of the mobile phone lends itself to being an excellent and engaging medium. For one thing, mobile advertising can reach you wherever you are, as you always carry your phone. For another, mobile advertising that reaches you on your phone can call out to you and gain your attention by allowing you to act on the message almost immediately. And finally, there is just too much clutter out there in regular advertising channels that mobile advertising has all but become a compulsion. Or as the old adage goes, a necessity that has resulted in an invention.

Some of the most reputed names in the advertising and client industries are going the mobile advertising way. And mobile advertising is not just your regular advertising that is delivered through the mobile medium. It has developed into a fine art by itself. In the early days, mobile advertising was little more than SMS messages masquerading as advertising. But nowadays, the medium itself has evolved to give us superior communication that not just impresses, but compels as well.

To take a case in point, gone are the days when mobile advertising spoke about the need to stay connected. In any kind of advertising, the first phase is usually meant to set the stage. In a manner of speaking, it is meant to educate the target audience about the usage of a new product. This was the case with mobile advertising in the past. When mobile advertising initially surfaced, the target audiences needed to be educated on their impact and what could be done with the message. For instance, could the user call a number tagged to the mobile advertising message? Could they visit a web site? Could they display the SMS or MMS to gain discounts at certain venues? These details needed to be explained. But of late, the commonality of mobile advertising has ensured that a new generation is well aware of the grammar of mobile advertising.

This enables advertisers to come up with newer and better mobile advertising campaigns, that push the envelope, in a manner of speaking. This is where customer expectation management becomes a critical purpose of mobile advertising. As mobile advertising has improved, the expectation of customers too have increased. And the day is not far when savvy customers themselves will define the future course of mobile advertising.

Collecting Antique Dishes

Collecting Antique Dishes

Many collections are fun, but there are some that are both fun and functional. Those that collect antique dishes will love to display what they find, and some will use some of their favorite sets or pieces when they have company over for a special occasion. The first step in putting together a great collection of old dishes is to know a little about what you are looking for and what you think would give you the most pleasure. You can always go with what catches your eye, but many have a certain type that they search high and low to find.

Corningware is one very popular type of antique dishes that many collect. Corning has been around for a long time, and some of their pieces are worth a lot of money. These collections can be found all over the world, as they have been traded over and over again. These antique dishes come in different sets and different makes, and if you don?t like one set, there are many more from which to choose. There are even slight variations within production years that people try to find.

Corning is not the only source of great antique dishes. Others like to find things that are almost impossible to find, and that there may only be a few of in the world. These are hard to find, and might make for the smallest collection of antique dishes. Some like to find old dishes that are from a certain time period, or that might come from one specific place in the world. If you know where your ancestors came from, a fun collection of old dishes might be the ones you can find from that area of the world within the time frame of when you family may have lived there.

Your collection of antique dishes may just start when someone in your family gives you some of theirs. You can then go from there. You may just find something that you like in an secondhand or antique store, and that might be all you need to get you motivated. Once you know what you want to collect, you can still look locally, but you may also want to expand your search to the Internet. There are probably pieces out there for sale that you can find by using your computer that would never show up in your local antique stores.

Care Package Ideas

Care Package Ideas

If you have a child who is away at college, you may be wondering what you can do to let them know that you miss them dearly without embarrassing them with daily phone calls. If you?re child isn?t local enough to come home whenever they want to, chances are, they may need for you to send them some reminders of home. However, they may not be as willing to admit that even though you would like for them to. It may become your mission, as a parent, to come up with some care package ideas that you can send to them in order to let them know that they are always on your mind.

There are dozens and dozens of care package ideas. If your college student is a junk food addict ? you can easily send them some homemade cookies, some favorite candies, packs of gum and other sweet tasting goodies. Not only will they appreciate the package, but they may become pretty popular with the other students in their dorm as well. If your child isn?t so much into the sweets, put together some care package ideas that cater to their tastes. If they?re a health food nut ? visit your local health food and vitamin store. Get an assortment of different foods and drinks to send to them.

Perhaps some care package ideas that revolve more around personal items than food is more appropriate for your student. Sometimes, personal care items are much more appreciated. It may not be as much fun to get a care package filled with toiletries, but it just may be saving your child quite a bit of money. Think about it ? the rising prices of practically everything that is a daily necessity is on the rise. Buying deodorants, perfumes, shaving creams and other necessary items adds up a lot faster than a college student is able to earn the money for it. Coming up with some care package ideas that include toiletries or other personal items can be a lot more practical and appreciated than you can imagine. Get some bars of their favorite soaps, toothpastes, lotion and other things that you know your child uses and put it into a nice basket or container. You can always include some other things that are reminders of home as well. Perhaps a local newspaper would interest them, the comics section from a weekend
newspaper or a recent magazine would be appreciated.

Other care package ideas can easily be created. Getting phone cards and sending them to your child is always a popular idea. Around the holidays, sending decorations for their dorm room is always a huge hit. Almost anything that you can come up with for a care package idea can be appreciated and remind your college student that they are loved and missed. Though your child may claim that it is embarrassing or not necessary, not a single student will deny that they don?t appreciate the fact that their parents care enough to send them something personal and from home.

Homemade Hair Care

Homemade Hair Care

Your hair is your hair, and it is not quite like anyone else?s. Though colors and styles can be the same, no two heads of hair are going to act the same way. They may all need a little something extra, or they may need to be left alone for good health. You are well aware of what your hair does, and what you wish could be better. There are great treatments and lotions out there in the stores, but you can also go with some homemade hair care when you want a little more protection, shine, or lift.

You can always use your tried and true, but you can also do some occasional treatments for hair care that you will find rather easy to make. They are not always as convenient as things that come out of a bottle, but you may find that some homemade hair care products can do a better job than what you have been using. If you have naturally curly hair, you are probably one of the first that wants to try something new for your mane, but you are also the one that is going to have the most trouble.

I have curls, and have tried some homemade hair care treatments. One in particular used an old banana with a few other ingredients. I had to put it through my hair, let it sit, and then wash it out. What I found was that I did not ground the banana enough, and I had to spend a lot of time getting the chucks out of my hair. However, despite that, this was something that did amazing things for my hair. It was soft, light, and had an amazing shine when I was done. I don?t do it very often, but I do use this homemade hair care mixture when I really feel like my hair is lacking luster and feels brittle.

Some homemade hair care ingredients include natural things like honey, bananas, and cherries. These are all good. Cherry can dull down brassy highlights, and banana can lighten them up. Cherry is often recommended for darker hair colors, or darker hair with highlights. You can look up many recipes for homemade hair care to see what is recommended for your hair type and color. You can use these on occasion along with your regular hair care routine to give a little extra boost to the health and appearance of your hair when you feel it needs it the most.

7th Book of Harry Potter

August 31st, 2009

7th Book of Harry Potter

Anyone who has not heard of the Harry Potter series must have been living on Mars! The series began in 1997 and concluded ten years later with the 7th book of Harry Potter, titled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It was the fastest selling book in history and has been published in 93 countries. The excitement for fans was tangible with people lining up at bookstores on the launch date. There was a special treat for those lucky enough to get tickets through a ballot for an event at the National History Museum in London. 1,700 guests were there for a signing session and reading from the author, J.K. Rowling.

Rowling also toured America and appeared at Carnegie Hall. Guests obtained these tickets by sweepstake. Writers don’t often get treated like rock stars but such was the anticipation surrounding the Harry Potter seventh book. Readers knew that there would be a final show down between Harry and He Who Should Not Be Named. Security was paramount and the publishers were very protective of the material. They didn’t want anyone to spoil the party and reveal the plot outcome. Unfortunately there were some internet leaks that seeped out but by and large, security was maintained.

It was a difficult task to tie up all the plot strands from the previous stories but Rowling managed it with great skill and this 7th outing for Harry was well received by fans and critics. The author said that she always knew what the end game would be and how each character would evolve. Of course, there is just as much excitement when it comes to the films. Because Deathly Hallows is a long and complex book, the film adaptation will actually be two films. Both will be directed by David Yates, who directed the two films that went before. Part 1 is scheduled for release on 19th November 2010 and Part 2 for May 2011.

Filming for the final two installments will begin in February 2009 and is expected to last a year. Many actors playing the major roles for this adaptation of the 7th Harry Potter book have confirmed that they will take part. This includes the three young stars, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Emma Watson (Hermione) and Rupert Grint (Ron). They will be joined once again by Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, David Thewlis, Timothy Spall, and Brendan Gleeson.

Rowling has produced a spin off publication from the 7th book of Harry Potter, titled The Tales of Beedle the Bard. These relate to five stories of wizard fairy tales that are given to Hermione in the Deathly Hallows. This latest book was published around the world in December 2008 and the proceeds will be donated to charity. Rowling has also illustrated the book. She had made seven original books; all handwritten and given them to people who had helped her bring Harry Potter to the world.

stove tops

stove tops

Though I have seen the stove tops that are supposed to be very easy to clean, I can?t see where there is much difference. While working for a maid service to pay for college, I got to clean a lot of different kitchens, and that meant that I cleaned a lot of stoves. Though there were some that were a little easier to clean, for the most part, it is more about the stain than it was the surface. It is not a good idea to buy a stove based on how well it can be cleaned. Go for performance instead.

The stove tops that I have had in the past have all been about the same, though different companies seem to use different qualities of paint. I really love the one that I have now, as it seems that it cleans off rather easily. There are times when I have to leave a wet rag over the mess to get it to soften up before it will wipe clean, but as far as stove tops go, this one is by far one of the best ones that I have ever had. If I buy a new one, this might be the brand that I stick with for my new purchase.

There are some stove tops that seem to be made other something other than metal, and they often are installed into the counter top away from the oven. These are really great, and fairly modern, but they are not any easier to clean as far as I can tell. However, if you don?t mind that, these stove tops are great when you want to have an oven up off of the floor, and you want a more convenient place to have your stove burners. These have a special surface that might need a special cleaner though, so that is something to consider when buying.

No matter why type of stove tops you have, you can usually clean them by soaking them with water if the stain or mess will not come up. Most paint is thick and durable, and the stain will not soak in. However, if there is a problem, be very careful about using Comet on the mess. Comet works very well, but it can also scratch up the paint or the surface of the stove tops. Soft Scrub might be okay, but it is wise to test it on a less noticeable spot on the appliance before scrubbing away with it.

Meet New People in Free Chat Rooms

Meet New People in Free Chat Rooms

I’ve been shy around new people ever since I was a kid. I’ve always had trouble making friends because of my shyness, and have led a pretty lonely life as a result. My parents were sure this was something I would “grow out of”, but I’m in my thirties now and am as much of a wallflower as ever. Recently, however, things are starting to look up. My brother recommended that I try some free chat rooms online, and though hesitant at first, I followed through on his suggestion. Surprisingly enough, I’m actually having lots of fun this way!

I’ve discovered that it’s a lot easier for me to be friendly and engaging when I’m sitting behind a keyboard than when I’m in a room full of strangers. That makes sense, as I don’t have to worry about my clothes or my looks. I can just be myself in these free chat rooms without having the superficial stuff get in the way. When I’m chatting online, my real personality is allowed to shine through, and it feels like I’m finally breaking out of my shell.

There are tons and tons of free chat rooms out there, so choosing a few to hang out at was easy enough. I just picked sites where other participants shared my same interests, and now find myself engaging in spirited virtual conversations about everything from the latest films and books to my favorite television shows, celebrities, and sports. When I want to be a bit more serious, I can head off to different sites for discussions about politics, religion, or current events. I’m telling you, there are free chat rooms for every topic under the sun!

The best part of frequenting the same free chat rooms over and over again is that I encounter many of the same people. As a result, I’m getting to know some of them fairly well, and might even go so far as to say that they’re my friends. Sure, we’ve never met in real life, but we’ve had wonderful conversations on a daily basis — which is much more contact than I usually have with people. Some of my online friendships that began in free chat rooms have even progressed to e-mail and instant messenger. That’s truly a lot more than I ever expected to happen!

Though I’m still a shy person at heart, at least now I know I don’t have to be lonely anymore. Thanks to all the free chat rooms I’ve found, I can connect with others who share the same interests, hobbies, and passions. I’ve started to develop meaningful friendships, and who knows, maybe I’ll gather enough courage to hit a singles chat room soon. The bottom line here is that I should have started doing this a long time ago!

New England Lighthouses

August 31st, 2009

New England Lighthouses

The New England area, consisting of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island is known for its gorgeous scenery and its charming towns. One of the most popular visitor attractions is the New England lighthouses. They are both picturesque and interesting from an historic point of view and tales of maritime heroism and tragedy surround them. Some of these lighthouses offer overnight accommodation.

The New London Harbor Lighthouse in Connecticut stands at the entrance of the harbor. The white, 89 foot tall structure is the oldest and the tallest in the state. It is not open to the public but visitors can get a great view from the water. The original was constructed in 1761 but was moved in 1801. An automated system was installed in 1912. The 1863 house, which was home to the keepers, is still there. Boon Island Lighthouse off the southern coast of Maine is the tallest New England lighthouse, standing at 133 feet. The granite tower was first built in 1811 and the present structure was commissioned in 1855. Automation was not introduced until 1980, with the installation of a solar powered beacon. This tower is not open to members of the public but can be seen by boat.

Boston Lighthouse on Little Brewsters Island in Massachusetts was first built in 1716. The present tower was first lit in 1783 and it was automated in 1998. It stands at 89 feet and is white with five steel bands. The original lens used was simple, tallow candles. Situated in the Outer Boston Harbor, this example of a New England Lighthouse is of historic significance, as it was the first to be built in the US. It is still the second longest lighthouse in America to be operating and is a National Historic Landmark. The original tower was blown up by British Forces in the American Revolution. Advance bookings can be made for a tour with a guide of the island and lighthouse.

The Isle of Shoals Lighthouse is off the coast of Portsmouth in New Hampshire. It was first constructed on White Island in 1821 and the current structure was constructed between 1864 and 1865. Local people in this part of the world like to tell of pirate adventures and some residents believe that there is buried treasure. This New England lighthouse is not open to the public but the Isle of Shoals Steamship company organizes cruises to go out to the lighthouse. There are different kinds of cruises, including the Scenic Sunset Cruise and the Evening Dinner Cruise.

August 31st, 2009

With Valentines Day just around the corner, it?s a good idea to start thinking about what you may want to get that special lady. While getting gifts for Valentines day may seem a little smarmy and a little Hallmark, it?s probably still a pretty good idea to get some sort of gifts for Valentines Day unless your loved one is particularly progressive and you?re positive that she?s of the same mindset, otherwise you could find yourself in pretty deep trouble come February 14th. But what should you get her?

The best gifts for Valentines Day usually avoid clich?. Of course, getting her a box of chocolates or a bunch of roses or a bear holding a big velveteen heart is far better than getting her nothing at all, it?s probably not going to be particularly memorable unless you do something to jazz up the presentation like give her the roses on the bow of a cruise ship or parachute from the sky holding the teddy bear. Though these methods will probably make the day memorable, if you want to make your actual gift important you?re going to have to do some thinking outside the box.

Jewelry is another stand-by, and it will usually go over far better than chocolate or flowers as gifts for Valentines Day, but again, it?s not all that inventive. The best gifts will be things that are particularly meaningful for the two of you, though they may not necessarily be expensive or hard to find. For example, if the two of you took a great vacation to France, try tracking down a bottle of wine from that vineyard the two of you loved so much or getting the recipe for that stew that you had in the little caf? outside of Paris. If she really loves old movies, find a screening of Gone With the Wind in some little theatre out of town. Gifts for Valentines Day should be romantic, more so than gifts for birthdays or Christmas or any other day of the year. Don?t worry about how expensive or inexpensive your Valentines Day gift is, just worry about making it meaningful to the both of you. If you can manage that, then you?re doing a lot better than any of the guys picking up lousy chocolates or wilted roses at exorbitant prices at the last minute. She?s probably not going to remember the heart-shaped box of bonbons, but she?s going to remember that recipe from Paris or candle-lit dinner in the park.
