Tips on safely participating in chat forums

Millions of people go online for a fun break in the day’s activities, to talk with people all over the world without leaving home. This venue, the chat forum, has achieved immense popularity with people of all ages and interests. One of the most popular types of chat forums is the online relationship or dating forum. Both adults and teens are avid participants, hoping to meet that perfect someone online. However, due to the anonymity provided on the net, you need to be aware that some of the people you’ll meet may not be who or what they say.

Teens need to be particularly careful, as there are predatory individuals looking for a young person they can mislead and subsequently meet in person, with ill intent. Adults have more experience in social situations, but are still vulnerable. Here are a few pointers to help you screen potential chat friends and find chat forums which result in an enjoyable experience.

When searching out a forum that suits your age group and interests, look at a dozen different ones before you start posting. Get a sense of the people posting by going online at different times, both at day and night. You’ll start to notice the regulars who spend a lot of time in the chat room. Observe how various posters treat new posters. You may see that certain individuals are consistently mean spirited or simply don’t have much to say. On the other hand, you’ll find people who have a great sense of humor or usually have something interesting or substantive to chat about with others. You’ll also start seeing patterns of conversation which can reveal personality characteristics, both good and bad.

When you’ve found a chat forum you like, start posting your remarks on a see-what-happens basis. Don’t start out with highly personal thoughts. Begin with more general conversation that invites general greetings or opinions. If someone flames you, just ignore them. These people aren’t worth a response.

As you become more familiar with the forum members, it’s likely you’ll regularly converse with a few. It’s a good idea to set up a separate email account to communicate with people from the chat forums. If you give out your regular email, you might end up having to shut it down to avoid a single individual who turned out to be a loser.

If you’re a teen and find a few people who seem likable, ask your Mom or Dad to check out their posts and give their opinion too. They’ve got a few years on you and can give you some insights or spot suspicious people you might miss. If they say so and so is suspicious, ask them why. They’ll tell you. Believe it or not, your parents can help you weed out undesirables. You might even agree!

Using these few precautionary guidelines can help assure fun and friends in chat forums, not a disaster. Keep safe and enjoy.

In A Bad Relationship

In A Bad Relationship

About three years ago, I started writing a blog about how to tell if you are in a bad relationship. I had been having relationship problems myself, and it actually just grew out of a journal entry that I was writing on my home computer. Ending relationships is hard for everyone, and even if you know that your relationship problems are insurmountable, you can sometimes lie to yourself for months before you are able to get out of it. All of my friends offered me relationship advice ? everyone had something to say ? but none of it really made an impression. I was at a point where I really had to figure it out for myself. No one else could tell me what to do.

This particular one started as a rebound relationship. Both of us had been involved in long term relationships with other people before, and then started dating each other casually once we broke up as a way to relieve some of the stress of being all by ourselves. He seems to really care about me, and it soon started to really pick up. Although some of my friends saw dating warning signs from the beginning, I didn’t really take any of that to heart. They told me that he was controlling, but I thought that he was a pretty sweet guy.

One of the things that people don’t understand is that, when you are in a bad relationship, sometimes advice doesn’t help. Sometimes, the more people tell you that you need to break up, the more you are determined to not listen to what they’re saying. In my case, even when the relationship became abusive, I still wanted to stay with it for awhile. I figured that we could work it out and that it was just a one-time thing. I was sure that I wasn’t in a bad relationship. The funny thing is that, if it had been an abusive friendship, I would have broken it off immediately. I don’t like people taking advantage of me, but somehow that ruled did not apply to this particular dating situation.

I have been in bad relationships before, but it had never gotten to this point. I looked at a lot of online dating advice, but I kept seeing him. The thing that finally told me that it was time to break up was when I reread the things I had been writing. I pretended that I was reading someone else’s blog, and I was shocked when I saw. It was so clear that he was being abusive and that I was in a bad relationship that I couldn’t figure out how I hadn’t seen the signs. Whatever the reason, I’m glad it’s over I broke things off and I have not been in a bad relationship since.

Christian Bible Studies

Christian Bible Studies

There are few areas of greater debate than Christian bible studies. After all, there are literally hundreds of different sects, and each one has a different approach to studying the bible. Nonetheless, there are a few things that are common to most, if not all, approaches to Christian bible study.

One of the most central ones is that the bible is the true word of God. This is a big thing that separates secular historians of the Christian religion from Christian bible scholars. The secular view is that the bible is a bunch of different texts written by different people over thousands of years. Some of them were written as a way to reinforce the political structure of a particular group, while others were written to reinforce one interpretation or another of the Jewish or early Christian religion.

In Christian bible studies, this whole approach is rejected. They believe that the particular texts which were chosen for inclusion in the new testament are the only ones that matter, for example, and they find other explanations for inconsistencies in the bible. Although it is possible to take a sort of middle approach, not siding fully with the Christian or secular side, most people tend to stay firmly in one camp or another. That is just the way the scholarly community divides.

Another important distinction between the various Christian bible studies is the approach to community. There are plenty of different ways to read the bible, and a lot of them have to do with who is doing the reading. A Christian bible study that you take part in with a group will be a very different experience than reading and studying the bible on your own at home. A group orchestrated by a minister will come to different conclusions than one which is organized by a non-hierarchical group of lay people.

And then, there are the different sects of Christianity. Calvinist Christian bible studies will have a much different feel than Catholic ones, for example. They may be reading the same book, but you would not always know it by the strikingly different conclusions they can come to. Sometimes, different approaches to studying the bible yield interpretations as different as night and day. It just go to show you how malleable books can be. Even with the central book of a religion, there are always multiple ?truths? out there. The key lies in choosing the one that seems right to you.

Well, it looks like tomorrow night is the night. I hate to admit it, but it looks like the end is near. I can feel the hot breath of evil burning my neck as the moon grows full. What will we do on this frightful occasion? How will we escape the madness of angry spirits, haunting ghouls, demonic creatures, and ruthless creatures galore? In no time at all they will be frolicking blissfully throughout the streets, their sights set on home after home, and then they’ll be right upon your doorstep. What will you do? Hey, I’ve got an idea. Just give them some CANDY! That’s all they want. Once you hand it over, they’ll skip off with a smile stretched from ear to ear. I should know, I will be accompanying one of these little terrors tomorrow night, on Halloween. Now, I must gather the costume accessories and flashlights.

We are missing out! Am I wrong here or what? Who ever said that we adults can’t go trick-or-treating? May be I want to bust out some costume accessories and a plastic sword to hit up all the neighbors for booty. That’s loot, if you didn’t already know. Yep, pirate talk. Anyway, it just seems a bit biased to not let us parents gather as much candy as possible too. We need the sugar rush and vast selection of chocolate just like any kid does. What’s your take on this? I noticed that my 15 year old daughter was trick-or-treating a few years back and some neighbors got annoyed. What is this about? Are you telling me there is suddenly an age discrepancy with trick-or-treating? Give me a break. I tell you what; folks have gotten cheap or lame or both as the years have passed. I will pass out candy to anyone who steps up to my door in a costume on Halloween. It’s but one night out of the year.

Ah, the costume thing. This very well might be the best part of All Hallows Eve. It’s sort of a toss up between the costume accessories and the candy. However, I may have to choose the masks and costume accessories simply for escape reasons. These guises offer us a wonderful way to escape our redundant regime. Seeing that it only comes one out of 365 days in the year, I would take full advantage of it. Have an utter blast on Halloween!

Is a Life Experience Degree Worth it?

As more and more people get access to the internet and as more and more businesses go online to look for potential clients and new avenues of doing business, the education sector has not been left behind. Today online degrees are commonplace and with a click of a button, anyone on any part of the globe may well be on their way of earning an online degree. Reputable institutions have also not been left out on this rat race. In fact, just about anyone, regardless of their educational background, can get an online degree. One of these degrees that seem to favor a lot the working class are the life experience degrees. What is a life experience degree?

A life experience degree is one that is earned after a person proves his or her skills in a job field. This experience that is needed in order to earn such a degree is expected to be practical to the desired field and should have been earned in the workplace. One advantage of this degree is that the holders of these certifications have both the practical skills as well as the papers to prove their authenticity. When pursuing for a life experience degree it is always advisable to pursue this form of degree in the area or field that you are currently in. Life experience degrees are thus seen as excellent ways to get a promotion without attending the traditional classroom.

While going through the net, you may also be amazed by the number of institutions offering online programs. This is where you need to take caution. There are many online institutions that offer reputable certifications, but there are also those that offer certifications that are worth only the papers they are written on. These online colleges are referred to as degree mills and there are many sites that keep listings of these ?colleges?. So if you come across an online institution that offers a life experience degree and has unusual demands or that has negative commentaries online, it is good to avoid it. Otherwise you may end up throwing your money away to the mill.

A life experience degree is a great way to authenticate your skills and have papers to back up those claims. Due to the relatively short period of time that it takes to earn these degree, usually around one to two months, it will likely result in savings, less stress from a classroom setting, and of course, a sense of accomplishment.

Adult Animation

Adult Animation

When people think of animation, they usually think of children. However, many cartoons and drawings are exclusively designed for grown-ups. Adult animation is any animation that is designed for mature entertainment. There are a number of reasons that the program, art or movie is considered adult animation. Some reasons are far more obvious than others.

When the makers of South Park originally released the program, many people were up in arms by its content. The argument against the program was that it was appealing to young people but the content was way too mature for children. The makers of South Park found themselves in the position of explaining the difference between children’s cartoons and adult animation.

The mature subject matter in programs like South Park is one of the primary reasons that a show of this type is considered adult animation. Humor that appeals to a mature audience may not be suitable for younger people. Adult humor can easily be offensive and confusing to a child and even though shows like South Park and Family Guy may appear to be appealing to children, they are really inappropriate.

Aside from mature humor, graphic violence may make an animated program fall under the classification of adult animation. Violence is prevalent in many shows of this genre. Of course, a grown-up understands that the program is created by artists, but many children do not really grasp this notion. Graphic violence can be traumatic for young children.

Adult language and swearing is also common in many of the adult animation programs. Even though cable television beeps out the offensive language, the gist of swearing is apparent. Adult animation may also have suggestive images and nudity in some cases.

Some may wonder why on earth developers of racy programs like these would create the characters and settings in an animated style that would normally appeal to children. This approach is part of the humor. Adult animation is ironic in that the characters and events revolve around an immature format. However, the programs are normally aired after most children are fast asleep.

It is important to remember that adult animation is only harmful to children if the children are exposed to them. Parental supervision is crucial with such programs at the tips of our remote controls. It is important that parents know what their children are watching especially when the program airs after nine o’clock at night. This is common sense.

After parenting adolescents, you should be fit for a diplomatic post!

After parenting adolescents, you should be fit for a diplomatic post!

Parenting children of any age group is difficult, at best. Becoming a parent brings with it so many responsibilities, along with the need for skills you might never have required in your entire work career. Understanding and effectively dealing with children is much different than working with a group of adults. While adults have, for the most part, developed a rational and logical approach to others, kids are clueless on these points. Parenting adolescents is probably the most difficult challenge you’ll face.

Once you get into the terrible two’s, you know you’re in for a roller coaster ride of the natural phases of emotional development. Most parents get somewhat of a reprieve during the years leading up to the preteen stage. Kids are usually more pliable and willing to go along with the program, from the ages of, say 8-12. Some parents are lulled into the misconception that they’ve got everything under control and these, mostly, cooperative children will continue in this fashion right on through adolescence. Ah, you think, parenting adolescents will be a breeze. Not.

This false sense of security often leads parents down the primrose path, becoming overly indulgent. Failing to stand by your guns on the rules, establishing and maintaining reasonable limits during the 8-12 age group, can actually cause confusion in young kids. If exceptions to the rules are made, either as a reward, or just a what-the-heck attitude on your part, the lines on behavior blur.

Let’s say that you have established that bad behavior results in the consequence of a restriction of privileges and that you almost always enforce that rule. Then, a situation arises where your child has definitely crossed the line, warranting the restriction of privileges. However, on this particular day, your child has been invited to a sleepover she’s dying to attend. ?Oh, please, Mama! I won’t watch TV for a week, if only you’ll let me go!? You give in. The message your child receives is that consequences do not necessarily apply. These occasional exceptions set you up for a more difficult period of parenting adolescents.

On the other hand, you do not want to be so strict that you are directing every move they make. There’s got to be a delicate balance between adhering to basic rules while still allowing for self expression. If you are too strict, this can lead to more extreme forms of rebellion, making parenting adolescents an absolute nightmare.

Parenting books can be useful in acquiring the skills and understanding that allow you to walk that middle line. There’s another resource, which you might not have thought of, but which can prove invaluable. Try a book on the skills diplomats employ when dealing with thorny international relations. In many ways, political leaders can be just as immovable and recalcitrant as adolescents. You may learn much about successfully parenting adolescents by studying great statesmen. While you’ll have to adapt the techniques to an adolescent point of view, such reading can be a great asset.

By the time you’ve successfully navigated the parenting adolescent phase and you’ve got a well adjusted and responsible young adult, who knows? You might find a career in diplomacy!

Help With Electronic Records Storage

Help With Electronic Records Storage

Record keeping is evolving each and every day. What used to fill up filing cabinets is now stored on computers both small and large. The only problem with this is that there should still be filing cabinets, as there is no such things is totally safe electronic records storage. This is a great way to go, and can help with keeping things organized and easy to pull up, but it can also be erased very easily. Accidents and mistakes can happen, and you do not want to lose everything you have in the blink of an eye.

If you have a small amount of information on your computers that you do not want to lose, you can use your typical electronic records storage. If you work for yourself at home, for example, you can easily fit all that you need on your own machine. However, you should not solely rely on your own computer for electronic records storage. You should have at least two forms of backup. You can have a zip drive through which you can store your information, as well as putting it on a CD at least once a week.

If you have a small business, you may have a bit more than your machine can handle in the way of electronic records storage. However, that is not always the case. You may just have to get a computer that has more storage space and that works faster. Most with a small business may not have much luck with the personal PC or MAC that one would use in the home. Use the same backups as those that work at home would use for electronic records storage.

When away from home on business, or out traveling for your company, you can use your personal computer for your momentary electronic records storage. You also want to have information on disc or CD. You have to have a way to get things to your employer if the files are too big to send through any email server. There are sites that offer temporary electronic records storage that can be used to send large files from you to whomever needs to see what you have.

No matter how careful you are with your electronic records storage, there is one thing that you should always have. No matter how many places you have your information stored, you should think about having things printed and stored. These should be the things that you can not be without through the life of your business. Some things can go without this type of storage, but it is a good way to back up any type of electronic records storage so you know you have what you need when you need it the most. If you have too much, look for offsite records storage if you run out of space.
