What is it with celebrities that has everyone down on their knees in the worship position? Am I missing something here? It just seems a tad extreme to place some unknown individual on such a high pedestal. I mean ponder this issue for a moment. Do you actually know any hollywood stars. Sure, you see them in big budget films and gracing your television screen, but those are all just characters. How often do you see the real personality? Maybe you never do at all. Regardless of my personal diatribe

Regardless of my personal diatribe on hollywood stars, I do realize that oodles of people will continue to praise them like the Lord almighty. That’s just the way our society works.

Have you read the latest gossip regarding hollywood stars? Hey, before you snag that latest issue of People Magazine or Globe, I want you to stop and think about why you’re reading this stuff. Don’t you have a life of your own? Do you really care what is or isn’t going on in Tinsel Town with hollywood stars? How does it even concern you in the slightest? Do you know some on a personal level? Wait, let me guess; the answer is a big, fat whopping NO. So how does their trip to the salon, or fashion trend for last Wednesday concern your life? It doesn’t. My problem with celebrity gossip and redundant magazines concerning hollywood stars is the purpose of it all. Is there one? I don’t think there is. Our society is way too consumed with what folks in the entertainment industry are doing. No offense to the “A list,” but they are hardly making the world a better place. I don’t see any of them defending our great nation. I don’t see any of them putting their lives on the line for others. I don’t see any of them keeping the streets safe from criminals. All I see is a group of wealthy socialites who love to spend tons of money on designer material goods, high-end vehicles and fancy homes. Wow, and people actually want to read about hollywood stars? Give me a break. If you really need a role model that bad, look to someone who puts his/her life on the line day-in and day-out. Look to someone who would rather devote their riches to helping the less fortunate, as opposed to spending a grand on lunch. Look to someone who actually raises the bar and doesn’t spend time griping about the men and women who defend this country.

So, what else is there to say about hollywood stars? Hmm, I’m thinking not much. In short, if you literally have no life of your own, then run out and purchase all the gossip you can handle concerning hollywood stars and their financially privileged lifestyles.

Breville Espresso Machine Models

In this day and age, it is certainly beneficial to purchase your own breville espresso machine or coffee maker that’s ideal for your java tastes. After all, you have to consider what coffee houses are charging for their vast array of beverages, such as iced vanilla lattes, mocha frappuccinos, hot black coffee, or breves with white chocolate syrup. More than likely the local coffee shops are asking you to fork out four to five dollars for a single drink. You have to stop and think about the effect this has on your overall budget. Okay, imagine purchasing a grand latte each day for three months. If each coffee costs you four dollars, that’s 27 dollars each week. Multiply that times four and you have 108 for the month. So after three months, you’re talking about $324. Yikes!

Now that you understand the need for a breville espresso machine in your home, imagine all of the caffeinated beverages you could make with this product. Let’s say you really like to enjoy iced raspberry lattes on a daily basis. You can do this with your very own breville espresso machine for your home kitchen. All you really need is syrup, coffee and milk. All together, these supplies will run you no more than 20 dollars. However, they will make you numerous lattes and espresso shots. What in the world are the coffee shops charging you for anyways? Which of those three ingredients is worth for or five dollars for a small portion? Maybe they are charging for the ice or artsy ambiance.

Consider the simple and convenient coffee product and equipment dealers online. There are a number of these sites, and they all offer a vast array of coffee makers like the breville espresso machine. At this point you should really put some thought into the type of java drinks you enjoy and what you need that breville espresso machine to accomplish in your home. This will help you weed through the countless products available at this time. Keep in mind your budget when you are shopping around too.

Imagine having a coffee just the way you like it whenever you want to. This is what so many people crave, but many people do not do anything about. Stop blowing all of your hard-earned money at the local coffee houses, and start making your own lattes, breves and espresso drinks at home. No more running out on Sunday morning to pick up a cup of Joe for you and the spouse. It is time to invest wisely in a breville espresso machine so you can have your latte and drink it too. Go ahead and add up all of the money you will save over time by not having to hit up the local coffee shops for the caffeinated drink you crave so frequently.

Reality TV Casting Calls

Reality TV Casting Calls

Reality TV show casts always have their stereotypes and token members. From reality TV casting calls will emerge the drama queen, the looker, the mean girl, the jerk, the quiet one, the one minority, the rich and spoiled one (sometimes merged with the drama queen/mean girl/jerk), the rural and na?ve one, the devoutly religious one, the unstable one, the immature one, the den mother and so on. The cast of people, or should we say characters, is what makes reality TV so interesting to watch. You might think it?s about being the next top chef, surviving the island, finding the next big designer or top model, finding a soul mate or being thrown into unfamiliar situations and environments, but you know that all of the drama that goes on in the house comes first. The mean girl or jerk is alienating everyone else in the house, the minority one is shown constantly talking about their minority status, the immature one is getting on everyone?s nerves, the religious one is having it out with someone non-religious in the house, and the drama queen is, you guessed it?causing drama. For the viewers, all of this turmoil makes for great entertainment and gossip.

It makes you wonder though, through reality TV casting calls that attract anyone, how does the cast always happen to contain some of these stereotypes? What were the chances that the sample of contestants picked happened to distribute all of these traits? This is why many people are suspicious or critical of reality TV casting calls and their validity. They?re really looking for good TV and not talent, some will say. American Idol has specifically been the target of such criticism, prompting organizations like the ?Vote for the Worst? campaign. Accounts from people who auditioned say that in a matter of seconds, people are chosen, and somehow from that group they get a bunch of horrible singers that make for good television. Others accuse TV shows of keeping around certain contestants that deserved to go just so they can make the show more interesting.

Yet this can?t always be the case, or at least not entirely. Many reality shows are based on skill and competition and even with drama, the show would most definitely fail and reek of being rigged if none of the contestants had remotely any talent. The reality TV casting calls have to be producing some genuinely talented people, but you?ll forget about them when the show ends while remembering the contestant who threw a hissy fit, or the one who had a nervous breakdown, or the outrageously eccentric contestant that kept you tuning in every week.

Baby Developmental Toys

Baby developmental toys can be a great asset to developing coordination and stimulating your baby?s mind, and this season there are many options available for expanding your infant?s world. Among the numerous choices stacked up in the toy aisle, LeapFrog is a brand to keep an eye out for. LeapFrog baby developmental toys are a good choice because they?re safe, easy and fun while being beneficial to developing important skills in your child.

For the child 0 months to 12 months old, you might consider the LeapFrog Learn and Groove Musical Table. This table comes with over 40 songs and 15 musical activities in various musical styles for your toddler to enjoy. It?s also bilingual and suitable for both English and Spanish speaking households. The LeapFrog Learn and Groove Musical Table grows with your child?you can change the legs to accommodate your child?s height so that the table can be used for a long time. It?s an ideal toy because it helps your child develop rhythm, coordination and motor skills at a young age. Other good baby developmental toys are My Pal Scout or My Pal Violet, the Baby Counting Pal Plush, and the Sing and Spin Alphabet Zoo. My Pal Scout or My Pal Violet, depending on whether you have a boy or a girl, helps your baby with first words and numbers, and the Baby Counting Pal Plush expands on basic concepts and teaches your baby to count and recognize colors while providing auditory, visual and tactile stimulation. The Sing and Spin Alphabet Zoo enhances verbal and numeric knowledge while developing motor skills.

In addition to baby developmental toys, LeapFrog also makes toys specifically for toddlers ages 1-3 years such as the LeapFrog Scribble and Write, the LeapFrog Fridge Farm Magnetic Animal Set and the LeapFrog Match Up. The Scribble and Write introduces your toddler to basic writing and drawing, and your toddler learns how to classify animals and develop spatial skills by making animal combinations. Toddlers match together rhyming words and opposites with the LeapFrog Match Up, which helps them to improve memory and matching skills.

It?s important for babies and toddlers to learn and experience stimulation at an early age, because even at this age they are gaining abilities that they will need in adult life. Learning is never really over?it?s a life long process that starts as soon as we first enter the world.

The los angeles art museum that stands above all others.

The los angeles art museum that stands above all others.

The J. Paul Getty Museum, which was established in 1954, is the los angeles art museum that stands head and shoulders above all other art museums in the state of California. There’s no other Los Angeles art museum that houses such rare artifacts of not only the age of antiquity, but the modern era as well.

The mission statement of the Getty Museum from their website at getty.edu reads as follows:

The J. Paul Getty Museum seeks to further knowledge of the visual arts and to nurture critical seeing by collecting, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting works of art of the highest quality. To fulfill its mission, the Museum continues to develop its collection through purchase and gifts, complementing its impact through special exhibitions, publications, educational programs developed for a wide range of audiences, and a related performing arts program.

Currently on display at the Getty museum is a collection called “Drawing Life: The Dutch Visual Tradition,” which will be on display through February of 2010. Largely from the 17th century, a period called by some “The Dutch Renaissance,” these paintings display the works of the masters of that era, and it’s easy even for a novice to see the impact they’ve had on art through the centuries since. The most important aspect of that era of Dutch art was their committment to realism, a desire to pain the world as it actually was, whether it be a cityscape, an ocean sunset or a still-life of a bowl of fruit on the dining table. It’s a collection that has won praise from artists and critics around the world for not only its scope, but its presentation as well.

There are other Los Angeles art museum that are worthy of exploration as well. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, for example, actually holds more individual exhibits than the Getty Musuem, though they’re not necessarily as rare or influential.

For example, the Los Angeles art museum specializes in Asian art and latin American art. In that sense, the Los Angeles art museum is more forward-thinking than the Getty Museum, however it holds less cache in the art world since the European masters are the measuring stick.

However, as we become more diverse as a society it’s important that we become more diverse artistically as well. LACMA’s pre-Colombian collection, for example, has gained more and more prestige in the last couple of decades and is likely to continue that trend as Americans learn more about their roots.

Dual Screen Portable DVD Player

Dual Screen Portable DVD Player

Say you?re going on a family vacation and one of the kids wants to sit in the back, but the other needs to sit closer up front to not get carsick. But both of them want to watch a movie to pass the long car ride, and you want them to watch it too so that you can have some peace and quiet for the next few hours. Unfortunately, the natural laws of the universe make it impossible for your kids to be in 2 different places at the same time, but one way to bypass those laws is to purchase a dual screen portable DVD player for your car. That way, one of your kids can sit up front, the other kid can sit in the back, and both of them can watch the same movie from the different places they?re sitting.

A dual screen portable DVD player for the car comes with dual screens, adaptors, cables, mounting straps and a headphone jack. Each kid can have their own screen and the player can easily be installed in the car and run for long periods of time, and they can listen through headphones so that while driving you don?t have to be distracted by the noise of movie sound effects and dialogue as well as your children?s constant questions of ?Are we there yet?? Movies aren?t the only thing your kids can enjoy during a drive; they can listen to music and look at photos as well. Most any type of DVD, CD or picture disc should be compatible and work smoothly with your dual screen portable DVD player. But of course, movies, music, photos and headphones don?t come included so make sure that you have a collection of your own handy.

You can purchase a dual screen portable DVD player at most any electronics store in your neighborhood or online. The kind that you purchase will depend on your circumstances?some factors you want to consider are price, size of screen, quality of picture, quality of the unit itself, and length of the adaptors and cables. Generally, more expensive DVD players will have better quality picture, and depending on how big your car is, you might need longer adaptor wires.

So once you?ve chosen your DVD player, you?re all set for a peaceful trip on the road. However, if your kids both want to watch their own movie, you?re out of luck because you?re sure as heck not going to buy them a DVD player each. Maybe next time you?ll consider having only one kid.

Both People Who Use Chantix and Zyban Successfully Quit Smoking – But Who has it Better?

Both People Who Use Chantix and Zyban Successfully Quit Smoking – But Who has it Better?

What with November 19th having been the Great American Smokeout Day and with New Year’s Day around the corner, being a quitter has never been a more popular choice. As strange as it might sound to non-smokers, smokers are really concerned about the health effects of getting on the wagon. Quitting smoking can play havoc with low blood sugar levels and make you feel nauseous, lightheaded, make you put on weight (partly due to the sweet tooth that quitting on nicotine gives you), and give you trouble concentrating. The smoker?s drugs on the market, Chantix and Zyban quit smoking for you reasonably painlessly; but Zyban has been on the market for about 40 years now, and has had its share of negative publicity with seizures and the like among users – something that gives pause to the health-conscious smoker. But of all the ways out there, Chantix and Zyban quit smoking for you in the most reliable and scientific ways. If one were to try the drug therapy route, which one would be best?

Zyban is a proper FDA-approved drug to quit smoking with; it is made by Glaxo. While people using Zyban quit smoking successfully, it did briefly gain a bad reputation in the 80s for the seizures it caused; that has since been sorted out as simply a problem with the doses used. A reasonable 450mg dose simply does not cause them trouble. Only about three in a hundred people who try to quit smoking by relying on self-motivation actually succeed for even three months; ten times more succeed when using Zyban. However past the three-month mark, Zyban apparently stops being as effective a way – and is no more effective than the patch.

Chantix is another drug that helps; while Zyban was basically developed for purposes like the treatment of depression, Chantix was purpose-built for smoking addiction. It helps both by making smoking less pleasurable, and making quitting less painful. What is more, people who use Zyban quit smoking far less successfully than Chantix long-term and short-term. Over the long term a fifth of all who try it with Chantix, succeed.

People who choose Chantix or Zyban quit smoking successfully, but wonder if the medicines cause a problem with weight gain. The fact is though, that quitting the habit itself makes you put on weight; not much, but it does happen. The only problem with using a drug like Chantix, is the depression it causes; Zyban was an antidepressant to begin with, and does not do this. the government has hopes of getting a 12% decrease in the number of people who smoke, by next year. It doesn’t look like the country is anywhere near quitting at that rate. Smokers don’t really need to hear about the health benefits of smoking, to help them get on board; nor hear numbers like how you can live five years longer if you quit at 35, or three years longer if you quit at 65. But if sex is supposed to sell everything effectively though, could it be used to convince people that smoking makes things less hot in bed?

Personal Ads

Personal Ads

Personal ads have always been a source of intrigue and amusement. It used to be that you just couldn?t find the right person in person, so you had to resort to advertising for a Mr. or Ms. Right, and it was a remarkable and curious happenstance if the two of you actually ended up happily ever after. But personal ads no longer have a lot of the stigma that used to be attached to it, and it?s almost like the normal thing to do in order to meet someone. The development of the internet probably helped propel the personal ad now that there are numerous online dating services that people make use of. The internet makes it a lot easier to communicate and get access to a wider variety of people than you would by posting in the newspaper, especially if people read their news online.

People associate personal ads mostly with dating, but they?ve have been utilized for various purposes. Other common ads are the ones that are looking for egg donors that are intelligent with a high SAT score, good looking, physically fit, talented and all-around perfect. Or look at craigslist, which is THE personal ad website where people advertise for jobs, housing, furniture, games, electronics, random gigs, relationships and so much more.

Personal ads are extremely useful, but they can also be frustrating when people aren?t upfront and truthful about how they represent themselves or what they?re advertising. On dating websites, people have put up fake or misleading pictures and lied about their exploits or physical characteristics, which you would think isn?t very smart considering you have to meet this person someday if you hit it off. Or for advertising products, people can exaggerate about them or use misleading pictures as well, or not post any at all. The downside of personal ads is that you don?t really know who or what you?re dealing with. The ease and anonymity of communication makes it easy to trick and lie to others in order to cheat them out of business or maybe out of desperation to be accepted. It?s easier to deceive others when you don?t have a face to deal with or while the consequences aren?t immediate.

Such problems could potentially be avoided if we went back to the old fashioned way of meeting and dealing in person. But we don?t want that to happen?craigslist is so convenient and easy to use.

All the Makers of Windows Antivirus Software are about to have a Very Bad Day

All the Makers of Windows Antivirus Software are about to have a Very Bad Day

Microsoft is not a quitter; when they come to market with a product, and it isn?t a hit, (think Microsoft Zune), they stick it out for the long haul, until they finally get it right. So why is it that their great hopes in OneCare, Microsoft?s proprietary Windows antivirus software, was alive and going ahead full steam one day, and just suddenly terminated the next? Microsoft was not even doing badly with OneCare to want to quit. Could it be that Microsoft only did this only because they changed their minds about making it a paid program to go up against Norton or Kaspersky? That they want want to give it away like Windows Media Player or Internet Explorer? Is Microsoft just making it a part of Windows itself and upending the plans of a dozen Windows antivirus software companies?

It is available to download for free now. If you think about it, Microsoft Security Essentials is one of the best out there, even if it is pretty basic. All the reviews put it right up there with the antivirus software majors McAfee or Norton or Kaspersky at catching viruses and other nasties. Sometimes it does the established players one better too – with no false positives either, what is more. And it doesn?t even bring your computer to a crawl when it is doing its scan, like those products do.

People hate unnecessarily resource-hungry programs; think Outlook, or think any major Windows antivirus software weighed down with useless parental controls, alternative firewalls, and backup systems. Microsoft does not smuggle in bloatware with Security Essentials, because everything on the operating system comes from the company already anyway. The Snow Leopard on the Macintosh has a malware engine integrated right into the OS, and Security Essentials does enough of a job that you never have to look at a third-party product again. Security Essentials for Microsoft is available as a free download off their site.

Now why exactly is Microsoft doing all of this for free? One possible explanation could be the way Microsoft is moving quickly to take advantage of the cloud, just the way Google is. You keep hearing news like how Google Docs was just hacked into bymiscreants, and how Gmail went off the air for long time earlier this year. Perhaps Microsoft would like to hedge its risks before it steps out on the cloud, and feel safe that computers the world over will help protect Microsoft?s Cloud reputation. And Microsoft?s product has better root kit removal, and much higher scan speed too.

So does this mean that this is the end of the road for paid retail Windows antivirus software? It certainly looks like the beginning of the end for them.

Jaguar xjs parts

Jaguar xjs parts

Jaguar xjs parts aren’t exactly difficult to find online, since the Jaguar XJS was the flagship car of what was considered one of the best luxury cars of its era. “Best” meaning “best” in terms of status, not in terms of reliability or longevity.

See, Jaguars have a long history of breaking down right when you least want them to. The jaguar xjs was no different – in its heyday, you were still more likely to find one in the shop than on the road. Jaguar xjs parts, then, were available on the market almost everywhere, and with the addition of sites like AutoTrader.com and Ebay to the spare parts market place, it’s even easier to find jaguar Xjs parts now than it once was.

The car itself had a better than 20 year run, with the first ones coming off the production lines in 1975 and the last model made in 1996. It was considered Jaguar’s “luxury grand tourer,” meaning it was a luxury car that was designed for long-distance driving. Other cars of that description are the classic Ferrari 250 GTO, the Aston Martin DB9, and the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. The Jaguar XNS itself isn’t really considered to be in that class, but if you got one that didn’t break down you ended up with a pretty nice car.

In fact, the Jaguar xjs was noteworthy for its lack of reliability and the frequency with which it would break down. As a result, jaguar xjs parts aren’t particularly difficult to find online. The problem is that, since the car itself has slowly entered “collectible” status, as mentioned in the wikipedia entry, jaguar xjs parts can be prohibitively expensive.

Somewhat comically, the XJS was originally introduced with a 5.3 liter V-12 engine, which sounds nice until you realize that the mid-1970s saw one of the great fuel crises of the western world. As a result the company greatly downsized their potential market share by including such a monstrosity of a motor, and for several years sales lagged as a result. These days the earlier models are somewhat prized as collectibles, though in fact it’s the models from 1980s that went furthest in saving the Jaguar brand and are still more reliable today. Restoring a 1970s model is a risk, and a pricey one at that.

That said, if it’s worth it to you to restore your old car, then it’s worth the price. The car itself is still a symbol, and an attractive one at that, and jaguar xjs parts aren’t so difficult to come by that your bank will be entirely broken by them.
