Enjoy Movies on the Go With a Portable DVD Player
With three children in the house, things can get a little hectic. All three kids have different interests and different schedules, so there always seems to be a soccer practice or piano lesson to go to. That means my afternoons mostly consist of driving all over town — and then sitting and waiting for an hour or two until the event is over. That sounds like it would be pretty boring, but I just bring my portable DVD player and a couple of movies to pass the time.
I got my portable DVD player a few years ago as a Christmas present. At first, I really had no use for it since my kids didn’t have any outside activities back then. But after the practices and lessons started, I pulled the device out of the back of my closet, figured out how to use it, and soon became thankful that I even had it. I’m telling you, a portable DVD player is a wonderful gadget to have when you’re waiting around!
I have a Toshiba portable DVD player, and though it’s a rather basic model, it has all the features I need to enjoy movies and TV shows on the go. It comes with a nine-inch screen, headphone jack so I don’t disturb those around me, a remote control for easy navigation, intuitive on-screen display menus so I can quickly do what I want, and picture zoom so I can focus in on particular details for a better look, In addition, my portable DVD player has crisp picture and sound, and is just plain fun to use!
Another terrific feature on my portable DVD player is that it has various jacks, connectors, and outlets on it that allow me to rig the device up in various ways. For example, I bought a car adapter kit that allows my kids to watch cartoons or whatever in the back seat on long road trips. This is an invaluable option for parents, as we all know how important it is to keep everyone quietly occupied for a couple of hours. In addition, I can hook the portable DVD player up to a television and enjoy my film on a bigger screen if I so desire. This is a nice alternative when we’re in a hotel for the night and don’t have anything else to do. If there’s nothing good on television, we have a great backup system right there.
Overall, I have to say that my portable DVD player is the one high-tech gadget that I use most often — besides my cell phone, that is. I would be completely bored without it, and my kids would probably go a little crazy on longer drives without some age-appropriate entertainment to keep them busy. I wouldn’t trade my Toshiba for the world!
