Bluetooth Wireless Adapters ? A New Way to Connect

Bluetooth Wireless Adapters ? A New Way to Connect

It seems today that every new device on the market has some sort of wireless capability that allows it communicate with other devices within range. One of these capabilities is Bluetooth. Bluetooth enabled phones, receivers, converters and recently Bluetooth wireless adapters have seen a proliferation. In order to have devices communicate without crashing in the Radio Frequency, Bluetooth seems to be the most favored choice. Bluetooth devices work in the range of 2.45GHz. This is the radio frequency range that lies between the 1GHz TV range and the 10GHz Satellite range. Thus in order for Bluetooth wireless adapters to function, they must also work within this range and more so at 2.45GHz.

One of the many advantages of having a Bluetooth wireless network is that Bluetooth devices communicate by creating what is called a Bluetooth piconet. In a Bluetooth piconet, seven active slaves are controlled by one master. However, there can be over 200 passive members on a piconet. With Bluetooth wireless adapters, transfer speeds can reach 721kbit/sec. This is a high speed connection, when you consider that high speed broadband connectivity starts at 256kbi/sec. In order to synchronize with the other devices on the network, a Bluetooth device adapts what is referred to as frequency hopping.

Because Bluetooth wireless adapters can connect different kinds of Bluetooth devices, there has to be a protocol that helps to determine what kinds of devices are on the network and what kind of services they are offering or requesting. This is achieved by utilizing the concept of service discovery. This involves sending out a query for other Bluetooth devices and any other information needed to establish a connection.

Today there are many different kinds of Bluetooth wireless adapters that are used to connection the ever-growing list of Bluetooth devices. From headsets to sunglasses with Bluetooth capability, the list is endless. Bluetooth wireless adapters will allow you to dial to the internet on your Bluetooth enabled laptop without having you to take the phone out from your pocket. On the other hand, a Bluetooth adapter will allow you to form a virtual private network to connect your phone, laptop and PDA and update information. The uses of Bluetooth are endless and only limited by our imagination. Thanks to Bluetooth wireless adapters, all of the devices can now connect without interference or conflicts common in other wireless technologies.

Common New Year Resolutions

Common New Year Resolutions

I have always made surprisingly common new year resolutions. A lot of my friends try to be pretty creative when they make up theirs. They resolve to, for example, consolidate all of their photos into a scrapbook or visit a place they had never heard of before within the next 12 months. For me, however, whimsy is pointless. There are enough important things in my life that I really don’t have together That I can’t afford to mess around. I have tried all the common new years resolutions. I have tried to lose a lot of weight within the next 12 months, go back to school, find love ? you get the idea. I come up with very important projects , but for the most part I haven’t been very together in following my plans.

You see, the common new year resolutions are common because they’re things that everyone worries about and everyone needs to do. The reason people don’t get these things done is that they are difficult goals. Losing weight involves completely changing your habits. Going back to school is an even more major undertaking. And forget finding love ? that can be a lifelong goal. It can be very difficult to stick to these sorts of projects.

Nonetheless, I have found that the more firmly I stick to common new year resolutions, the happier I am. When I did lose 30 pounds in one year ? No mean goal ? I ended that year in a state of pure bliss. I was so absolutely overjoyed with the progress that I made the nothing else seemed to matter. Of course it didn’t change every aspect of my life, but it did make me feel good about myself. And that is, ultimately, what following your new year common resolutions is about.

If you have trouble with your common new year resolutions, don’t kick yourself about it. Instead, simply redouble your efforts. Tell yourself that your resolution To get thin is more important than any snack you might want. Your resolution to get a better job is more important than your desire to rest in front of the TV instead of looking for job posts after work. Life is short, and sometimes there isn’t a lot of time to relax. At other times there is, but you will enjoy your relaxation a lot more If you get your work done first. You will feel you have earned it because of the progress you have made in hitting your goals.

The Fun Of Super Bowl Commercials

August 10th, 2009

The Fun Of Super Bowl Commercials

Each year, in January, every football fan in the US will find the time to watch the Super Bowl. It doesn?t always matter if they have a favorite in the game or not. They watch it anyway. Though all sports championships are big deals, there is just something about the final game of the NFL season that draws people who don?t even like football all that much normally. Though the main theme of the day is the game, there are many who put a lot of focus on the Super Bowl commercials. This is because they have become almost as important as the game to both viewers and the media.

What is most amazing about the Super Bowl commercials that you see each year is the amount of money that they command. Just thirty seconds of airtime during the Super Bowl can costs millions of dollars. That is just insane if you really think about it. The network airing the game can charge that much for ad space, however, because they know the time is worth a lot of money. There are millions of people tuning in to the game and they are going to see those commercials. The price is usually worth the exposure this game can bring.

Timing of Super Bowl commercials also has something to do with the price. Those that are placed in the first two quarters of the game can be more expressive. This is because if the game is a blow out, there are many that turn off their TV sets at halftime. The viewer-ship drops. That means a company could have dropped huge bucks on a commercial that fewer are going to see. The first quarter is the best time to run these. Most will actually take a restroom break during the game rather than commercials just so that they can watch them.

Companies put everything they have into their Super Bowl commercials. These are expected to be the funniest and most clever commercials that anyone comes up with at any time during the year. There is almost as much focus on these as there is for the game. People vote on favorites, writers do special stories on them, and people talk about them for weeks after the game. In a way, the Super Bowl commercials each year are talked about long after the final score has been forgotten. This is the one time of the year when most don?t mind commercials, and actually look forward to seeing them.

I first got into horse racing through the poetry of Charles Bukowski. You see, growing up, horse races were far removed from my experience. My dad was not a macho guy. He didn’t drink, he did not go to the horse races, he never bet, and he usually went to bed pretty early. Needless to say, horse betting was out of his zone of experience, and he wouldn’t have approved of it if he knew that I was interested in it. As a matter of fact, I really wasn’t interested in horse racing at first. Seeing horse races on TV kind of bored me, and I usually would change the channel. That all changed when I picked up some Bukowski.

Horse racing was Charles Bukowski’s central passion ? that is besides alcohol. He really portrayed it with the gritty glamor that made it all the more appealing. He did not try to sugarcoat the experience. He was tense, he was drunk, he could lose big or win big at the drop of a hat. Nonetheless, it spoke to something very primal in me. I knew that I had to go and check it out for myself.

To tell you the truth, I didn’t know what to expect. I suppose I expected everyone to be drunk like the poet had been. To my surprise, horse racing was actually a fairly civilized affair for the most part. Don’t get me wrong ? there was a lot of drama around the betting counter, and the fans got really into it. And yes, some people were pretty drunk. Still, the horse race track was ? for the most part ? a calm, even tame place to be. It was nothing like I imagined it.

Nonetheless, I got very interested in it anyway. I had been learning about horse race handicapping, as well as betting systems. I have always had a passion for mathematics, and I was intrigued by the possibility of winning an upset. My first few forays into betting did not go exactly as planned. There was more to it than I had thought. I wasn’t surprised ? if it was as simple as I had made it out to be, there would be no point to horse racing. Everyone would make a killing off of every bet, and the sport would go bankrupt. It took some time, but sooner than later I got the hang of it. Nowadays, it is not just a sport that I like to watch, but a way to make a little bit of money on the side.

David Blaine Magic

David Blaine Magic

Everyone likes to see a spectacle and try to work out how it was done. David Blaine magic and endurance performances leave the audience bewildered. The magician and illusionist began his career doing ‘close up magic’ tricks in the street. This kind of performance relies on sleight of hand. Instead of someone doing a card trick on a distant stage, the magician is right in front of you.

In 1997, Blaine toured the country and stopped pedestrians to perform his card wizardry. His performances were aired on his debut TV special, David Blaine: Street Magic. Everyone was impressed and audiences knew that he had a superior talent. However, doing David Blaine magic tricks was not enough and he embarked on a series of death defying stunts that would stun the world.

The first stunt took place in 1999 in New York City and involved the magician being entombed in a small plastic box placed under a tank filled with water for a duration of seven days. Blaine had a hand buzzer just in case he got into difficulties and needed help. He did not eat anything and he drank very little water.

The next stunt was called Frozen In Time and this was televised from Times Square. Blaine stood, encased in a block of ice with tubes supplying him with water and air. He endured this for more than 63 hours. Was this David Blaine magic or did he have incredible powers of endurance? He stated that his hero was Harry Houdini.

The Vertigo stunt followed and this one was in Bryant Park in New York City. Blaine stood on top of a pole, 100 feet (30m) in height and a mere 22 inches (55.88cm) wide. He did this for a remarkable 35 hours, often in high winds. He went to London for Above the Below where he was sealed inside a transparent plexiglas box, suspended 30 feet (9m) in the air, close to the River Thames.

It was back to New York City for his Drowned Alive stunt. He was submerged in a water filled sphere at the Lincoln Center for seven days. He then attempted to beat the record for holding breath under water but had to be pulled out after seven minutes as he was showing signs of distress.

Revolution was a stunt performed close to Times Square when he was in shackles to a spinning gyroscope and extricated himself after two days. The Dive of Death was an attempt to hang upside down above Wollman Rink in Central Park for 60 hours. Unfortunately, this one did not go to plan.

The magician turned author with the publication of Mysterious Stranger: A Book of Magic. It is partly an autobiography and it also explores the David Blaine magic card tricks with instructions on how to perform some of them.

American TV Show

May 25th, 2009

Television is a very competitive market and all the channels chase the ratings. There are three major TV networks, namely NBC, ABC, and CBS, and they have all produced their share of classic American TV shows. US programs are exported round the world. A lot of time and money goes into developing a pilot episode, some of which go on to a series and some fall by the wayside. Audience market research is an important part of the process.

Situation comedies have been prominent on TV guides ever since the 1950s. Usually, the whole family can sit together to watch them. One of the most popular, and still enjoying repeats, is the I Love Lucy Show, starring husband and wife team, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez. The show ran from 1951-1957 and Lucille Ball inspired other women to be comics.

A more contemporary example of a popular comedic American TV show is Seinfeld. Created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, it was inspired by Seinfeld’s own stand up routines. The humor was gained from everyday situations and the relationships between four friends. The long run from 1989 – 1998 made stars of Seinfeld and his co-stars, Julia Louis-Dreyfus (as Elaine), Michael Richards (as the eccentric Kramer), and Jason Alexander (as George).

Westerns on television had its golden age in the 1950s and 1960s. Gunsmoke, starring James Arness as Marshall Dillon, had a twenty-year run from 1955. Other early shows from the genre include Have Gun Will Travel and Wagon Train. More westerns were to follow, including Little House on the Prairie, Bonanza, The High Chaparral and Alias Smith and Jones.

Cop shows have never gone out of style, since the days of The Detectives and Dragnet. The blend of buddy stories and action make them amongst the most popular TV shows in America. The long list includes Starsky and Hutch, Hill Street Blues, and LA Law. The lone maverick detective is also popular as in Colombo.

Hospital drama is another constant presence in the schedules. Early shows like Ben Casey and Dr. Kildare thrilled audiences with their human drama storylines and handsome leading actors. Marcus Welby, which broadcast from 1969 until 1976, was well known for its tackling of controversial subjects. Robert Young played Welby and his younger assistant was played by James Brolin.

Of course, no self-respecting network would be without its soap operas. Finding a good one is like TV gold. Each episode tries to end on a cliffhanger, making the fans tune in for more. The daytime soaps are known for their melodrama, including General Hospital, Days of Our Lives, The Bold and the Beautiful and the surreal Sunset Beach. The jewels in the crown however are the prime time Dallas and Dynasty. Both had family disputes, business wrangles and endless romantic complications, making them American television shows that sold across the world.
